Croatian tourism continued to grow in the first eight months of 2026: 17.5 million arrivals and 90.5 million overnight stays were recorded, both 1% higher than in the same period of 2025. For accommodation providers, however, it is more useful to look below the headline figures — especially at the main summer months and private accommodation.
Key results for the first eight months of 2026
- 17.5 million tourist arrivals, +1% compared with the same period in 2025.
- 90.5 million overnight stays, +1%.
- EUR 7.41 billion in fiscalized turnover, +17.6%.
- 328 million fiscalized receipts, +5.7%.
- Household accommodation accounts for 52% of accommodation capacity and 37% of total arrivals.
The figures come from the official tourism results overview for the first eight months of 2026. Arrivals and overnight stays are based on eVisitor data, while fiscalization figures come from the Croatian Tax Administration.
More arrivals, but overnight stays are growing more slowly
July and August together recorded 9.8 million arrivals, 2% more than a year earlier, while 60.9 million overnight stays represented growth of 1%. In household accommodation, arrivals in those two months increased by 1.5%, while overnight stays remained at the 2025 level.
This relationship may point to a higher share of shorter stays and more guest turnovers, although the official overview does not identify a single cause. The practical message for hosts is clear: more market arrivals do not automatically mean more sold nights for every property.
Private accommodation remains the largest part of Croatia’s supply
Household accommodation represents 52% of Croatia’s total accommodation capacity and accounts for 37% of total arrivals. Hotels account for 14% of capacity and 35% of arrivals, while campsites account for 20% of capacity and 17% of arrivals.
This confirms the importance of private accommodation for Croatian tourism, but also shows how large the supply is. When overnight stays in the main summer months do not grow as quickly as arrivals, managing availability, pricing and gaps in the calendar becomes even more important.
Spending is growing much faster than arrivals
In the first eight months, EUR 7.41 billion of turnover was fiscalized, 17.6% more than in the same period of 2025, with 328 million fiscalized receipts, up 5.7%. This is an aggregate tourism fiscalization indicator and does not represent accommodation revenue alone.
For accommodation businesses, it is therefore not enough to monitor only the number of reservations. It is more useful to look at revenue, occupancy, average length of stay and gaps between reservations together.
August further confirmed strong demand
In August 2026 alone, 5.1 million arrivals were recorded, 2% more than a year earlier, together with 31.4 million overnight stays, up 0.5%. July recorded 4.7 million arrivals (+2.5%) and 29.6 million overnight stays (+1%).
Which markets and destinations were strongest?
By number of overnight stays in the first eight months, the leading markets were Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria and Poland. Rovinj, Dubrovnik, Poreč, Split and Medulin were highlighted among the destinations with the highest tourism traffic.
MyRent interpretation: market growth alone is no longer enough
Official data shows a stable market in slight growth, but private accommodation in July and August recorded more arrivals without growth in overnight stays. Our interpretation is that operational discipline becomes more important in such an environment: unnecessary calendar gaps should be reduced, prices should follow real demand, availability across sales channels should remain accurate, and repetitive work should be automated.
- Track gaps between reservations, not only total occupancy.
- Review length of stay and minimum-stay rules by period.
- Keep prices and availability aligned across all active sales channels.
- Measure revenue and the quality of sold dates, not only reservation count.
- Automate communication and administrative steps repeated with each guest turnover.
Where MyRent fits in
MyRent brings reservations, Channel Manager, price management, guest communication and day-to-day accommodation operations into one system. The goal is not only to obtain more reservations, but to have better control over sales and operations when the market changes quickly.
Frequently asked questions

Conclusion
Results through the end of August show a stable and strong tourism year, but they are not yet final annual results. For private hosts, an important signal is that growth in arrivals does not automatically bring growth in overnight stays. In such a market, the quality of calendar, pricing, distribution and guest management becomes an increasingly important part of business performance.
