MyRent Flexible Search: more available stays when dates are not fixed

MyRent Flexible Search explores combinations of arrival dates and stay lengths, grouping available stays by property. The API is in production; user-facing integration is the next step.

Travellers often know the month they want to visit and roughly how long they want to stay, but not their exact arrival date. MyRent is developing Flexible Search for these situations: a search that considers combinations of dates and stay lengths instead of relying on one fixed period.

How MyRent Flexible Search works: from choosing flexible arrival dates to viewing available stays

What does flexible stay search mean?

Instead of asking whether a property is available from 10 to 17 September, the search asks which five- to seven-night stays are possible during the month. Results are grouped by property, with the matching periods and an indicative base price for each.

Example: five to seven nights in September

Imagine a guest who can arrive any time between 1 September and 1 October and stay for five, six or seven nights. The system checks the eligible combinations and displays dates that meet the configured rules. Check-out may fall after the final permitted arrival date.

  • Specify a range of possible arrival dates rather than one fixed date.
  • Choose the minimum and maximum number of nights.
  • Check daily availability, arrival and departure rules, and minimum-stay requirements.
  • Group matching stays by property and sort by indicative base price.

Why does this matter for property managers?

For agencies managing multiple apartments and villas, a fixed-date search can overlook useful alternative periods. Flexible results make other available stays easier to discover and can highlight gaps between bookings. They can support better conversations with guests, but do not guarantee more bookings.

What has been implemented?

Flexible Search is running on the MyRent production API and has been verified with a successful test request. The current implementation loads daily information in a batch, then evaluates stays and groups properties in application memory. This avoids issuing a separate database query for every candidate period. One search currently supports an arrival window of up to 180 days.

An indicative price is not a final quote

At present, Flexible Search returns a sum of basic nightly prices labelled daily_base_estimate. Discounts, additional services, children and pet rules, and B2B conditions may affect the final selling price. Availability and the full amount must be checked again before confirming a reservation.

When will travellers see this feature?

A production API is not the same as a public booking interface. Next steps include checking different property types, aligning the final pricing calculation and integrating the search into the relevant user experiences. No public launch date has been announced.

How to prepare now

Practical checklist

  • Keep future availability and nightly prices up to date.
  • Review minimum-stay rules and permitted check-in and check-out days.
  • Identify alternative stays your team currently offers manually.

Frequently asked questions

Can someone search any future month?

The underlying search can target future months, with a current limit of 180 days for a single arrival window. A public interface is still being prepared.

Is the displayed price ready to charge?

No. It is an estimate based on standard nightly prices. Final prices and conditions are confirmed during booking.
